What Is Mobile High Definition Link?

Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) is an interface standard that allows mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to connect to external displays (e.g., TVs, monitors, projectors) to transmit high-definition (HD) video and audio signals. MHL essentially transforms a device’s USB port into an HDMI-like output, enabling users to mirror their device's screen or play content on a larger display.

MHL was introduced in 2010 by the MHL Consortium, a group of companies including Sony, Samsung, Nokia, Toshiba, and Silicon Image, and has evolved over the years to support higher resolutions, better audio quality, and more advanced features.
