What Is DCI-P3?
DCI-P3 is a color space, or a set of colors that are used in an attempt to standardize the use of color. Color spaces allow for consistent reproduction of colors across devices. DCI-P3 was created to standardize the colors used in the film industry, and is now used on some monitor displays. DCI-P3 displays are typically more saturated.
What Is sRGB?
sRGB is also a color space, but it's more common than DCI-P3. Most electronics use the sRGB color space, although expanded coverage across color spaces is becoming more popular.
Which Is Better: DCI-P3 or sRGB?
DCI-P3 and sRGB are both industry standard measurements for the total color range a monitor is capable of producing. DCI-P3 monitors are capable of displaying up to 25 percent more color depth and feature deeper blacks and higher contrast ratios than competing sRGB monitors. This makes DCI-P3 panels more consistent and true to life when working with photos, graphic design, and video editing.
